Hidden Buzz Lightyear in Cars Land

As you make your visit to the Cozy Cone Motel in Cars Land to grab some yummy snacks, be sure to take a peek inside the Cozy Cone office to find a hidden Buzz Lightyear!

Guests are not allowed inside the office but there's a lot to see from the window.

Make your way towards the (locked) front door and look through the window.  At the end of the desk are a bunch of cones with a little Buzz Lightyear hidden under one.  A little reminder from the scene in Toy Story 2 when the toys are crossing the street going to Al's Toy Barn.

Photo Tip: Sleeping Kids

Have you ever been to the parks with your kids searching, waiting hours for characters?  What happens when you finally find them and your kids are passed out asleep? Use them as props!

When my daughter falls fast asleep in her stroller, it doesn't stop me from taking a few pictures!

I Can Draw! Part II

In a recent post I gave an overview of the Animation Academy where you can learn to draw a Disney character in a 20 minute session.

In Part II of this overview, I wanted to share that this experience is for just about every age that can hold a pencil.  Well, maybe not a 5 month old, but I think you know what I mean.

My 3-year old daughter is a BIG fan of Jack Skellington so as we walked by Animation Academy we saw that there was a lesson about to begin to learn to draw Jack.  We headed over and began our lesson.

She was so excited to see a tab with a giant piece of paper and pencil for her in her seat.  I told her we were going to draw Jack and she couldn't wait!

I told her to follow the Disney animator along on the big screen.  She did very good listening and copying what she saw.  Here's a comparison between my drawing and hers in the same stage.

Once we finished, I was so impressed with her drawing!  It was so beautiful and she was so proud of her work!

For comparison, here's my drawing so you can see what she was copying.

This is going to be framed in the house!

Since my last visit, they begun posting the characters and times of when you can stop by to draw your favorite character.

Ariel Gets a New Hair Style

When Ariel's Undersea Adventure debuted at California Adventure last year, my daughter and I really loved it!  It is this generation's "dark ride" and has wonderful effects to bring story of The Little Mermaid and the music alive.

But one thing always bothered me.  It was Ariel's "swirl cone" hair style in the "Under the Sea" scene.

I do understand that this "swirl cone" hair style was pulled right from the movie when a school of fish swim in circles around around her, causing her hair to go up.  But if you don't remember that scene, then this hair style looks ridiculous!

Fortunately, Imagineers have given her a new hair style.  I think it looks MUCH better!  What do you think?

Keeping the Magic Alive

Welcome to those of you joining me from Tips from the Disney Diva and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail.

June Topic: How do you keep the Disney magic alive when you've still got a TON of days before your next trip?

This month's topic had me think a little bit.  Because we have Disney stuff all over our house, I always feel like the magic is here everyday.  Just looking at anything Disney makes me happy.  And as far as park visits go, I typically don't have a TON of days in between trips because I'm a Disneyland Annual Passholder.  BUT I have been planning a trip to Walt Disney World for some time now so it has been exciting for me to plan everything out.

I'm in California, flying to Florida isn't a regular occurrence and WDW certainly is not in our budget for an annual trip.  The last time I had been there was in 2006 for my honeymoon and prior to that it was NYE 2001.  So you can see there's quite a gap!

For our upcoming trip to WDW, it will be my daughter's very first trip and her first cross-country flight.  Thus far, just planning out our daily schedule and setting up our dining selections have been plenty exciting for me.  Yeah, I'm a planning nerd.  I've got my Excel spreadsheets and all.

I haven't told my daughter yet about our trip, but once the timing gets closer, I'll bust out my US map and show her where Florida is and that there's another Disney park.  I don't know if she'll understand that WDW is different than Disneyland, but I'm sure visiting the other parks (Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot) will help distinguish the two resorts.  I know when she's seen Cinderella's castle at Magic Kingdom in pictures, she tells me that's Disneyland so clearly I need to help her tell the two apart!

Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is Disney in Our Blood.
