Hidden Mickey Outside the Park: Terranea Resort

While staying at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, I couldn't help but notice the lights and wall fixtures.

Finding Nemo 3D Glasses

I took my daughter to see Finding Nemo in 3D this afternoon and look what we got!

Dori and Nemo 3D glasses!

These came with the movie admission and are just the cutest!  Dori glasses are for adults and kids get the smaller Nemo glasses.

I hadn't seen 3D glasses like this when they re-released The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast.  I hope they continue this as I'd love to collect more glasses!

Top 3 Must-Do Family Adventures

Between Disneyland and California Adventure, there are lots of opportunities to start an adventure with your family or friends.  I share with you my Top 5.

1. Paddle a Canoe
I'm surprised most people don't know about the Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes.  This is your chance to get in a real canoe and paddle around Tom Sawyer Island.  Over in Critter Country you'll find the docking station for the canoes.  Young ones will need to wear a life vest and they get their own paddle to.  I must warn you that you must paddle!  If you don't, prepare to be embarrassed by the Cast Members in your canoe.

2. Explore Tom Sawyer's Island
There's LOTS to do on this island which has been taken over by pirates for the last few years.  Explore caves, go up a tree house, cross the rope bridges, find pirate treasure, visit a graveyard and more!

3. Visit the Animals at Big Thunder Ranch
Nestled around the corner from Big Thunder Mountain and just outside of Fantasyland is Big Thunder Ranch. You'll find goats, a donkey, cow, sheep, and the turkey that's been pardoned by the President of the United States.  During the holidays, the goats are moved out and the reindeer come in.  You can't pet them but it's pretty cool to see them.  You'll also find a coloring station for kids which is a nice break from the attractions.

The Little Mermaid Birthday Party

For my daughter's 4th birthday party, we threw her an Ariel/Little Mermaid theme.  I had so much theme-ing out everything and decorating our house for her celebration.  I hope you can find some inspiration if you decide to throw a similar themed party!

I found a lot of Ariel party decorations online from Party City and got most of it on sale (woohoo!).

I got table clothes, plates, colored napkins and a center piece.

I wanted to make her a birthday banner on my Cricut machine like I did her first birthday, but I just ran out of time.  So I ended up getting her this banner online.

For one of the doors, I found a $1 fishnet at the dollar store and made sea animals on my Cricut machine to decorate trying to tie in "Under the Sea".

And what's a party without balloons?  The house was FULL of Ariel balloons and look beautiful!

For the kids, I baked brownies that were in the shape of stars and set up a "Decorate Your Own Star Fish" station.  I gave the kids different color icing, candy eyes, sprinkles and take-home boxes.  This was a hit with the kids and adults!

My daughter said this was an "alien star fish".

These were the take-home boxes I made.  I put sea animal stickers on them and include a strip of wax paper for each brownie.
Can you find the Hidden Mickey?

One of the appetizers I came up with was placing a spin on the old ants-on-a-log aka celery with cream cheese and raisins.  Instead of raisins, I place three goldfish crackers and included a line of blue frosting to represent the ocean water.  The kids loved it and ate all of them!

My mom also made some candy suckers from the Wilton Candy Melts.

What's a party without a pinata?  Party City has the biggest pinata I've ever seen and of course I had to get it!  It was almost as tall as my daughter!

I really didn't have time to design a cake for the baker this time so I went to my local supermarket for the cake.  They had a fun, colorful Ariel cake and it only cost me $25!  I also found candles that had colored flames so those were extra cool.

And there you have it!  A complete Little Mermaid birthday party fit for a princess!

My Secret Wish

Welcome to those of you joining me from Can Do It Mom AKA Mouse Fan Diane and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 2nd stop on our Magical Blogorail.

September Topic: If you could put on the costume, which Disney character would you be at the Parks?

This is one of my lifelong wishes! I so wish I could be a costumed character at Disneyland. Give me Tigger, Stitch, Chip or Dale and you will see the goofiest, zaniest character! There's something about being behind the mask, in this case character head, that makes you not afraid to let your silly side out. This is probably why I love wearing sunglasses because I secretly think people don't see me.

I would love to jump, skip, hop, dance around the park mingling with guests and providing fun memories. In fact, I'd love to do something like the characters in these videos!

Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is Disney Babies Blog.

Here is the map of our Magical Blogorail should you happen to have to make a stopalong the way and want to reboard:
