Feed the Ducks

One of our favorite things to do at Disneyland is feeding the ducks on Tom Sawyer Island.

First, we grab a clam chowder bread bowl for lunch at New Orleans Square.  After lunch, we save the top of the bread bowl (or sneak a few bites first).

Then, we head over to Tom Sawyer Island.  The Cast Members allow guests to feed bread to the ducks and in fact encouraged us when they saw us with bread in hand.

On our last visit, one of the Cast Members taught my daughter to put the bread at the end of her hand and offer it to the ducks.  At first she was scared, but he encouraged her to be brave and that the ducks would like it.  She listened and the mama duck came over and ate the bread straight from her hand!  My daughter was so proud of herself for not being scared.

During spring time, the park will be full of ducklings and they are so adorable to see!

July 2013: Monthly Disneyland & California Adventure Photo Scavenger Hunt List

The July Scavenger Hunt lists are here!

This month's hunt has a snap shot of the item you're tasked to find in each land. Once you find it, snap a photo with it as proof that you found it.  Don't forget to click the image to enlarge and print.

Need to find the rules to the Photo Scavenger Hunt? Visit the tab at the top of this blog for a printable Rules page.

Print out your list and go hunting for the items on your next Disneyland/California Adventure visit. If you’re stuck on something, leave a comment below and I’ll be happy to provide a clue.

Good luck and have fun!

Keeping Cool

Welcome to those of you joining me from Can Do It Mom AKA Mouse Fan Diane and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail.

July Topic: "What is your favorite way to keep cool at Disney?"

There are several places to keep cool during the Southern California heat at Disneyland and California Adventure. Both parks offer places to get away heat and here I list my favorites.

Enchanted Tiki Room (Adventureland): Get a Dole Whip and enjoy the show inside an well air-conditioned room.

Main Street Shops: Grab some ice cream from the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor and walk through all the shops. They're all air conditioned and you can keep cool with your treat.

Starcade (Tomorrowland): Enjoy arcade games inside this cool area next to the Star Trader and Space Mountain exit.

Innoventions (Tomorrowland): This area doesn't get much love, but it does have a lot of AC. If you have little ones, be sure to stop by the kid's bedroom for an interactive storytelling of Peter Pan.

Golden Horseshoe (Frontierland): A definite cool spot to grab ice cream and enjoy a show while you're at it!

Splash Mountain (Critter Country): Nothing beat the heat like getting soaked with water! Try going through the Single Rider Line for a shorter wait time.

California Adventure
Princess Dot Puddle Park (a bug's land): A dedicated water play park for kids and any adult that wants to get wet.

Grizzly River Run (Grizzly Peak): The wettest ride at the Disneyland Resort! You WILL get soaked.

Clarabelle's Ice Cream (Buena Vista Street): We love getting the hand-dipped ice cream here and enjoying it inside an air conditioned area is especially refreshing.

Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is Picturing Disney.
